Yinzer Party
Black and Red All Over
Sunday, 11 December 2011 15:10

This little lady came into my shop in Pioneer Place. She just moved to Portland from Hawaii and I'm glad she's bringing an edgy style to the city. This picture was taken a few months ago, at the end of summer. I'm currently seeing floppy hats popping up everywhere! I think they're much more fitting in the warmer months, but it looks great on her. She's paired it with a black mini and studded hardware accessories from H and M. I can't imagine that bright red hair goes with everything, but she hands down got the color, length and texture of the outfit to show off her locks well.

The Classics Never Go Out Of Style
Friday, 09 December 2011 14:53

Portland doesn't see much sun and therefore, doesn't see too many bright colors during the winter months. You can still do a lot with black! Jewelry, vests and blazers, and an awesome haircut can go a long way. Debbie is wearing boots from NYC, a vest from Saks Fifth Ave., pants from Nordstrom, necklace from San Francisco and other jewelry by Stephen Webster. Debbie teaches dance classes in Portland in the SW, here's some info on the classes!

HAAAAATED IT
Friday, 07 October 2011 15:31

Oustide the amazing Sizzle Pie one evening, I spotted this patch on the back of a gentleman's jacket. I cannot get enough of In Living Color's "Hated It" skit, so I was amazing at this find of his!!

Alberta Street Fair
Wednesday, 05 October 2011 12:43

Walking through the shops and restaraunts of Alberta St, it's hard to miss the Funk Parlor and Julian's creations he has outside of his shop. I stopped for the studded jackets and stayed for his picture. So Prince, right? I asked him where he got everything, he said it's all from The Funk Parlor

Do Over @ Produce Row, Portland
Friday, 19 August 2011 13:25

I attended the Adidas Do Over party last Sunday, a big dance party out in the open during the day at Produce Row. A lot of people came out dressed adorably for the warm weather and packed the dancefloor. More photos of the event are over here.

This little lady's white and black cowboy boots immediately caught my attention. Basically I have been on a search for white boots for years and these are up there on my 'i wish i came across these' list. She got everything at Ray's Ragtime in Portland and completed the two tone outfit with a pop of color on top!

Liz managed to travel from Pittsburgh to Portland with only one small suitcase (wow!) She realized an outdoor dance party might not work with the 2 pairs of shoes she brought along, so she got these Timberlands in PDX. I never thought of pairing masculine on the bottom with feminine on top, but clearly it works effortlessly. Her socks match the dress perfectly and the side braid pulls the look together as "totally adorable!" Dress and sunnies from Francesca's.

Nordstrom in Portland
Thursday, 11 August 2011 16:21

Here's another shot from the Project Runway premier night in Portland.

She's wearing a blouse from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale over a simple cotton tank and skirt. Her necklace is made by a local designer and I'm really digging the necklace pouch so she can avoid carrying a purse.

PDX Pop Now
Tuesday, 02 August 2011 15:43

PDX Pop Now is an all ages 3 day festival of local Portland bands. It's been interesting getting used to summer starting mid-late July here, so this was the first weekend the weather finally broke and sundresses and shorts came out of the closet.

These girls were enjoying the music and donning vintage threads. There's so much good thrifting in this town, it's hard to keep track of where everyone goes and why! Plus, these girls borrowed half their outfit from their friends. Can I get some more girlfriends my size?? I'd like to be walking around in sweet threads with a closet 2-3 times my size.

Likewise, this young lady got her vintage dress from a friend. She said these boots are her 'fake' Jeffrey Campbells. She should have splurged for the real things, I love my Xanadus.

Project Runway Premier
Friday, 29 July 2011 17:58

I attended Portland Monthly's Project Runway premier last night at Brix Tavern. 2 local Portland designers are contestants this season and were grazing around the party.

I first spotted Kate, looking lovely in a green top. She let me know that it is a Bryce Black original, Bryce being one of the Portland designers on this season's PR. Kate's shoes are from Ether here in Portland, shorts are from American Apparel, and she designed her own jewelry.

Jay and Jackie slowly became my new bffs of the night. Unfortunately they wore size 8 shoes so I couldn't enjoy the Chanel and Miu Miu swapping. Jay has on Chanel flats, a Marc Jacobs bag, and a Forever 21 jumper. What a perfect Portland necklace to match - a vintage bicycle penant! Jackie is wearing an All Saints dress, a Chanel blazer, Wolford Tights, vintage jewelry, and Miu Miu sequined heels.

Miss "Shop Talk" Eden Dawn called this her "Mrs. Roper." She could have called it Dorothy Zbornak for all I care, I love sheer dresses!! They look elegant and classic, but can be very edgy with the right accessories and with a very short slip underneath. She accessorized with vintage jewelry.

This is why I love her: THEME TIME! We all know I love a reason to dress in theme. As an editor at Portland Monthly, her firiend insisted she wear this newpaper print dress which had interesting pull details at the arm and back. She paired it with Kenneth Cole Reaction heels.

Dexter's Night Out
Monday, 25 July 2011 15:05

I had this preconception of Portland style as super thrifty and too granola. Well I was only half wrong. Most street stylers tell me at least one of their pieces is from a local thrift shop. After seeing the vast amount of good thrifting in this town, I truly appreciate that style. Dexter is sporting a leather vest and thrifted Clavin Klein pants with matching black leather pocket trimming. Her cowboy boots had fringe, which I scolded her for cutting off, but she insisted it was 'way too Shetland Pony.' She had a total 70s vibe going on which fit in perfectly with the decor at Sloans Tavern, a spot reminiscent of a cool dad's basement he hadn't changed since his bachelor days of playing poker.

East End Block Party
Monday, 25 July 2011 00:53

I have been taking full advantage of the Portland summer, and East End's Block Party was no exception to beautiful weather, beautiful people, and a good time. I came across this lovely lady, who can be spotted working at Sizzle Pie, in a vibrant summer dress. She purchased it at Rock N Rose Vintage (where I also came across an amazing black flag cat shirt). She paired the dress with a denim button down, chunky jewelry, and surprinsingly high platform heels. Portland has of the largest amount of strip clubs per capita than any other city, so I imagine shoe shopping at the exotic clothing stores can be inspirational. Somehow it's really working here.

Samantha is an aspiring stylist (obvs) and looks adorable in this yoke, black tank, and flowy skirt. I'm completely jealous of this belt because I had a similar one that lost all ability to work. Minimal jewelry works well to show off the sunglasses and adorable shoes.

Ross Park Mall and Tim Gunn
Thursday, 21 July 2011 14:10

I forgot about this little gem of a lady I photographed at the Tim Gunn runway event at Ross Park Mall. Normally this would make me sweat just looking at her in July, but Portland has been a cool degree, I need to wear a sweater at night, type of place. Plus, I'm digging the brown and black together.
